Views of scholars will all vary, including the one from "this" one. You have scholars within all religions who view matters from that perspective, then you have the scholars who view the evidences for and against whose job it is to be impartial. I stand to the side of being impartial and view that which is based upon evidence. What is found within the parables of the bible are simply "this." Uneducated men in a vain attempt to make themselves appear to be intelligent and wise. Accomplishing, "neither." In my opinion, many of the parables are childish "comparisons" and not parables, per say. As for the healings, they can be taken literally, or not, for in many circumstances, those afflicted are of a superstitious times and of superstitious peoples, thus many of the afflictions came from within their own "minds."
One matter not many Christians ponder about Jesus and all the healings he is said to have done "miraculously" is that very few wrote of them except for those who were supposedly said to follow him. For the persons he helped and people he is said to have ‘healed," wouldn’t it have been believable if an account or two would have come from OUTSIDE his following? A "declaration" on papyrus or something from an on looker. But yet, you have none out of the thousands of people who supposedly "witnessed" these healings. That is why there are so many "skeptics," though this one believes that there actually was this Jesus only not the fictional character written about in bibles. Many believe and immerse themselves in all that is said, because in a world so full of it’s miseries, it is hard to face these realities without some kind of hope in the supernatural. Problem here, comes when so many get disappointed after years of wanting to believe so badly and nothing comes of it. Where to turn to then. It is why these religions leave themselves open to forgiving the fallen. "Because" they "know" that it is going to happen, to most.
