Is theology a sort of pseudo-philosophy kinda like intelligent design is a pseudo-science?
It seems like the goal of theology is to do philosophy but starting out with the assumption that the god of your choice exists and look for arguments that support that conclusion. This is what ID proponents do with biology. What do you think of my comparison? Valid?
Exactly.
Theologians are usually very dumb. Take CS lewis for example.
Creation "scientists" are usually very dumb. Take Michael Behe for example.
*Anyone* who takes a dogmatic position on an issue and bases their thought around them being right, is an idiot in my book.
Ask the right questions, never agree or disagree.

Yup. Theology literally means "To Study God." You don’t need to learn anything, just study.

No. Faulty assertions there.

Pretty valid comparison…I believe someone (might have been you) referred earlier to theology as philosophy’s "retarded younger brother" or something like that, and I did note that, with some amusement.

There are pop theologians like C. S. Lewis and Josh McDowell that offer a shallow, dumbed down, marketable version of theology.
But anybody who thinks that writers like him are representative of Christians theologians, has a naive and uninformed idea about them. Read Dorothee Sölle, Hans Kung, Paul Tillich, Helmut Theilicke, Thomas Aquinas, Søren Kierkegaard, Karl Rahner, Richard Niebuhr, Thomas Merton, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer — then offer an opinion on the average intelligence of Christian theologians.

Well, the problem I have is that this seems to be a critique of religious people, but the problem isn’t religion…it’s how we think. Few people, no matter if they claim to believe in a God, various gods, or no god, are able to approach a situation objectively. Even in the case of science, the supposition is that someone who has a religious background is automatically stupid…clearly, this is both prejudiced and unscientific, yet these people claim themselves to be intelligent scholars.
