Why do so many god believers ask that anyone else get off of the Religion And Spirituality catagory?
I’m not saying what my beliefs are here, I’m just wondering why people assume that the very word "religion" implies that believers in gods (especially those believers of 1 god only) some sort of ownership or alliance to the catagory.
It seems a little piggish of those folks.
Is it some sort of exclusive club?
Where’s the spirituality?
That’s the spirit!
If you’re raised in a culture where your idea of "religious diversity" means some neighbors are Catholic instead of Protestant, then you’re going to have a very limited idea of what "religion" constitutes.
If it’s a Christian-only forum these people want, I don’t know why they don’t just go to one. Yahoo Groups ALONE has over 100,000 of them, literally.
Because that’s how the word has been used for thousands of years. Indoctrinating children, killing disbelievers, torturing people, suicide bombing, just not too many pretty things associate with "religion"

The religious, mainly the Christians, tend to have this thought in their heads that their religion is the only correct religion out there. They tend to think that only they have the right to discuss religion and the majority of them bash others if they disagree or believe differently. Personally, I’m an atheist, and I’ve seen many, many contradictions in religions that just prove themselves wrong, but if I were to say this sort of thing on here in my own question, I’d be bashed like no other just because I have my own personal opinions and facts to back them up.
In other words, that’s how religious people are. They’re stuck-up and believe they’re the only ones right in the world. (Not all religious people are this way, but the majority are, and like I said, it’s usually Christians that are rude and obnoxious about it and try to act all-knowing…)

Because they seem incapable of understanding that someone that isn’t religious, who doesn’t believe in God, still finds religion to be an interesting subject. I love history and you can’t understand history without understanding the influence of religion.

Because they don’t understand there are a multitude of religions. They also do not understand that spirituality has nothing to do with religion.

Everyone feels very strongly about their religion and when someone attacks it it feels like they are being attacked. It’s hard to explain if the person who reads this is not very religious themselves. I personally being a very religious person, welcome answers from atheists because they have the outside perspective on the situations. But if its plain trash talk from religious or non-religious then I just don’t see the point of them being on. Because they add nothing by being nasty.

Heck I believe in more gods than most of them and they don’t think I should be here either! LOL
But at any rate, I agree with you: religious or not, we’re all entitled to our opinions on religious matters, and have every right to discuss them in this forum. So long as some insist on trying to undermine the separation of church & state, what the majority religion does impacts the rest of us, and we have a right to voice our concerns. Thus people of all religions, and those that have no religion at all, have every right to be here.

That might cause them to actually have to think.
