How can you have a prayer said for a deceased during mass?
My mother who is deceased, her anniversary is coming up next week. I want to have my church (catholic) say prayer on her behalf during Sunday mass. I have seen this done before. How can I have them do this for my mother?
Call your parish office and make the request.
Most people offer the church a donation when they make a request like this.
With love in Christ.
Why? She’s dead. Move on and get on with your life. I’m sure that’s what she would have wanted.

You go to the priest and ask him for it. I think you need to pay a little contribution for it.
In my country, you pay for a whole mass, which is dedicated especially to the memory of the deceased – the priest announces it a week before at every mass, telling when that mass is (day + time, mass takes place every day, more than once daily in some towns) and who it’s dedicated to, and then at the beginning of that mass he says who it’s dedicated to, everyone says a prayer, and then there’s a mass almost like the one on sunday. It can be dedicated to more people at once, too.

Ask Father for a special mention in remembering the dead during mass – offer up your own mass for the repose of her soul.
May perpetual light shine upon her and may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God,rest in peace.

you go into the parish office and ask their staff. be prepared for the mass to possible be spoken for already though. you may have to opt for her birthday or other day to be able to pray for you mom. sorry about your loss!
if you really need/want it said on that particular day you could also check into the missions. we use the cappucians in Detroit but there are some everywhere who usually say numerous masses a day!

Just tell the priest that you want your mom included with the weekly Special Intentions at Mass.
You can even have a Memorial Mass, in which the whole Mass is celebrated in memory of your mom. They’ll say so at the top of the Mass, announcing your mom by name and everything. It’s very nice.
