in my opinion, believing life had a creator doesn't make a person spiritual
i think you can believe that someone made dna, without believing that people have souls, or an afterlife.

i think that being spiritual doesn't make one automatically religious, you can believe we have a soul/spirit, without believing in god.

a religious person usually believes both, and has a set system of practices and specific beliefs based on that belief. religion usually has it's own set of ethical standards.

i think a person can be ethical regardless of which category they fall into,
unfortunately the word itself means many things to many people.
References :
Religion implies an organized system of clergy, doctrine, ceremony, etc. So Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Mormonism, Scientology are all religions because they are organizations based on faith.

Spirituality is a general idea that there is something 'more' than the physical world, a belief in the supernatural. This might be a god or gods, but it might just be a universal energy or spirit.

Ethics are a sense of 'good' behavior. They usually involve following accepted social rules for the betterment of society. They are mutually exclusive from either religion or spirituality. The Catholic church's actions to hide pedophile priests show that religious and spiritual people can act very unethically. (And, ethics are not based on the 10 Commandments, that is a myth perpetuated by the religious right.)

It is now popular for people to say they are "spiritual, but not religious", Meaning they feel there might be or is a god or other supernatural forces at work in the world, but don't feel a need to be part of a religion.
References :
The original meaning of religion is the same but has been changed to mean institutions.
Religio means to bond with God or truth

Ethics is the 10 Commandment. The Holy Spirit speaks to you directly without translating life through rules.
References :
religion is following the rules, rituals, and traditions of a defined religion. following the holy books, believing in gods word, and going to a holy place of worship regularly.

ethics is the set of earthly morals to follow. whats right and wrong from the human perspective.

spirituality is a combo of both. it usually loosely follows at least one religion, takes the basics of it, and blends it with worldly ethics.
References :
The "heart" is directed only correctly by the INTELLECT. One must KNOW first what the purpose of salvific prayer in order to spiritually (conscientiously) accept and "heartfully" intend the words he is praying, or saying to God.

No one can merely "heartfully" intend what he does not know, or blindly speaks. "Why am I asking God for this favor?" "What do I mean to speak, and why?" Without a doctrinal eduction, one is clueless as to his own petition to God and why should God look upon such a weak attempt to know His Doctrine which is what He expects His creature to believe? He can just as well refuse that of which He ows His creature who is neglectful and disrespectfull.

Only the Invicibly Ignorant, not the irresponsible, are capable of achieving true contrition without knowing what or why they speak words to God which they do not have the mental ability to understand! That wouldn't be the Questioner or any of the blithe ignorants who give blithe ignorant advice.

God Bless Ya,

There is more joy in Jesus in one day.

it's not a certain prayer that you pray, it's the heart behind the prayer. however, if she feels better reading a prayer, i would suggest this one. "Oh God, I know that I am a sinner. But I also know that You have shed Your precious blood that I might be set free. Please forgive me and help me to live for Your honor and glory. Thank You for dying that I might be saved. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen."
References :
Read Psalm 51:7-13

There is no such prayer per se. You may be thinking of the traditional Catholic Confiteor and/or the Indulgentiam, but this is for those who are already of the Faith (Trent) and it is not valid on the Vaticanista New Religion now playing at the local Novus Ordo "theatre."

One needs true contrition for one's sins in order to make an Act of Contrition, provided they believe already in all the Doctrines of the Council of Trent prior to the Act. They also self-provide an Act of Penance for sin in conjunction with the Absolutionem given by the Act.

Outside of the Roman Catholic Church of Jesus Christ of Nazareth There Is No Salvation, also expressed in Latin as Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus. This has been true for 2,010 years.

Save yourself? You cannot save yourself.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9

You have to believe in all of the Bible and believing comes with obeying (James 2:26). You also have to endure to the end (Matthew 24:13).

That is all controlled by God (Romans 9:16).
