What is a good Hebrew prayer for a former teacher of mine that recently passed away?
A former Hebrew high school instructor of mine recently passed away. He was an important figure in my life and a good friend of my family. He was kind of like a father to me and encouraged me to apply to great schools that i likely got into due to his recommendations. Any thoughts of a Prayer i can say in silent or at his grave when i go to visit it in a few weeks?
Please only post serious answers and do not be disrespectful.
Praying for the dead is a false teaching, you need to pray to God.
Since God doesn’t interfere with free will, how then does He answer prayer? I’m just trying to understand how the power of prayer works. It just seems the only way to change any event is to directly interfere but this is against God’s word, so how then would He answer a prayer? Just curious on other’s thoughts..
Free choice can only be made on the condition that the Creator does not show himself to us and thus we are created in a condition of His absence from our perception. If we had a perception of Him we would be unable to stop our self from cleaving to the pleasure that emanates from Him thus the condition of complete separation without the influence of His force gives us the chance to independently arrive at the desire to approach Him and cleave to Him.
Prayers that ask for a change in events that are happening in the world or to fix problems are not the ones that get a response because these are things He created specifically to prepare us for turning to Him and request to approach Him. The Creator will answer your prayer if it relates to spiritual advancement towards understanding and knowing Him. This kind of prayer asks for changes within you that will lead to spiritual ascent. This ascent leads to happiness and closeness to the Creator and in this regard the Creator can and will do anything for you. This is the reason prayer is called "the work of the heart" because we work to direct all our desire to be for the Creator. I hope this helps.
Here is a video on prayer to explain further:

a snapping turtle bit my curious puppy on the lip. She started bleeding like crazy and i did not know where she had been bit or how severe. While my brother tended to her i smashed the turtles shell in with a big rock. I have never seen anything suffer more in my life. It is now the next day and i still feel like shit. Could someone either give me a Prayer or something that will make me feel better or at least take my mind off of it.
Rub a dub, dub…….. thanks God for the grub
I’m a Catholic and i’m wondering ways that you can bring prayer more strongly into life. Like what are some ways?
Prayer is an out going talk with the Heavenly Father through the Name of Jesus.
What is the procedure for beginning a meal with a Prayer in a Muslim household? What are the words one would say (translated into English) as part of the traditional prayer?
Before a meal, we recite ‘Allahumma bariklana feema razaktana warzukhna khairan minhu. bismillahi wa’ala barakatillahi’
Meaning:
‘O Allah, bless it(the food) for us and feed us better than it.I begin in the Name of Allah with the Blessings of Allah’
I was taught this prayer by our mentor when I was 4 years old. ymoham3 and Moez are right too.
‘Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim’ which means "In the name of God, most Gracious, most Compassionate"
Muslims often utter this phrase before they set out to do anything.
After a meal:
‘Alhamdulillahi Rahman nir Rahim.’
Meaning:
‘ All praise to God, the most merciful and compassionate.’
I have fasted and prayed to God on several occasions asking for things for myself and my family. I read somewhere that God only answers our prayers if what we ask for is according to his will. To me that means that many of my prayers will go unanswered. But the things I have prayed for are very important to me and I don’t want to lose hope. What are your thoughts on the power of fasting and prayer?
No Prayer goes unanswered, however God in his infinite wisdom may not answer it the way we would like it to be answered
You do realize that your kids are free to pray in class anytime they wish, right?
And that the only thing removed from schools is the educators are not permitted to lead such a prayer.
So I wonder if you are teaching your kids all about church and god, why the heck do you need the teacher to direct Prayer for them? Shouldn’t you be teaching them how to pray?
I can volunteer at any school, I can pray when in that school…I can not engage the children and force them to pray with me.
I have no problem with the rules…
my children were taught that they could stop drop and pray anywhere they wanted…..including school but they were told they could never ever ever force another child to join them, or try to make another student believe what they believed.
My uncle is in the hospital with cancer and he has been battling it for a while and i just had two other uncles pass because of cancer, what is a good Prayer that could maybe work?

What is the prayer of salvation? Is there such a thing as a prayer of salvation?
What is the prayer of salvation?
Is there such a thing as a Prayer of salvation?
What you probably mean is the "Roman Road" prayer. It’s a string of verses from Romans that Protestants believe brings salvation. Google "Roman Road".
