Theology Thursday! How do you define or describe the nature of God?
The word theology is defined as "The study of the nature of God and religious truth; rational inquiry into religious questions."
Once again, this question is primarily directed to Christians, but I welcome all to answer as well.
God is God.
No words can describe Him; how can they when man invented words?!
Nothing we can ever imagine will even come close.
He is Benevolent; He is Onmipotent; He is Omnipresent; He is most Holy; He is just; He is our Creator; He is my Lord and Father; He is EVERYTHING, and I love Him with all my soul.

Who was the liberation theology priest that took young people to the cinema instead of giving them food?
I read about this priest when I was studying liberation theology. With the little spare money he had, he took young people to see movies rather than buying them food because he thought it was more important to feed the dreams of the soul
It doesn’t ring any bells and it sounds more like a parable than an actual event. Do you have any idea where and when this supposedly happened?

How many hours a week will a Theology degree be?
at a UK university? I’m going to Kings College in London and I’m contemplating doing Theology. Does anyone know roughly how many hours a week it will be as I can’t find the answer on their website? I will need to have a part time job while I’m there because I’m not being funded by my parents so if it’s excessive then I may have to rethink a change in course for now, as much as I’m passionate about Theology.
Depends if you’re counting the hours on Sunday or not.

What are good univerisites to study Catholic Theology at?
At post-grad level.
Also, do you think an undergrad in English, Communications and a Minor In Catholic Theology is good enough to enable me to study Catholic Theology at Grad level in the U.K.
Try the National Catholic College Admission Association for a complete list of U.S. Catholic colleges and universities with details: http://www.catholiccollegesonline.org/index.html

What are the available jobs in Theology?
I’m currently undertaking a masters in Christian Theology and am wondering what the job market and my job prospects are like in the field of theology, either in the UK or the US.
I currently hold a LLB Law degree (Hons) and would not mind combining the two areas if possible.
Any advise in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.
Remain Blessed.
You are unlimited. You can go into counseling, government, or just about anything you can think about. There are several positions in Churches and faith based organizations. I used to work for the American Bible Society. Just know that the money is not great and the hours are long.

What is a good Bible verse for saying good bye?
What is a good Bible verse to encourage people when you have to say good bye and you don’t know how long it will be until you see them again? Just any verse about being with them or something like that.
Please help me.
Thanks!
Preachers say benedictions, or blessings, at the end of church service that are meant to say good-bye to the congregation until you see them again. Here are a few scriptures from the New International Version that may help:
"The Lord bless you, and keep you: The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." (Numbers 6:24-26)
"Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you." (II Corinthians 13:11)
"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)
"May the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." (II Corinthians 13:14)
And finally…
"Say good-bye to me, but not to the thought of me." – this is not scripture, but from a Bible resource called the Lord’s Supper (see link below)
Hope this helps!

What is the name of the area of Christian theology that addresses this quote?
"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
-Epicurus.
I know the arguments for and against this point of view, but i am curious about the name of the area of theology. Thanks!
Theodicy.

Jehovah Witness, when Jesus came back in 1914 spiritually according to the Jehovah witness theology?
Can you explain to me what happened, why he came back spiritually in 1914 what happened and what you believes happens next. I am just trying to understand your beliefs and theology a bit more.
Thank you for your replies.
This outta be redundant. They will explain to you what they are programmed to by their cult leaders, the Governing Body (guberning buddies) who are the "Faithful and Discreet Slave Class", one in the same. If you really sit back and think about it all and how it originated by Charles Taze Russell off of spiritism, you can truly feel sorry for these people because they didn’t do their homework first just like I didn’t before getting baptized (I am out now), to find out exactly how the religion got started; HOW LUDACRIS IT ALL REALLY IS.
They only know what others including some elders who don’t even know the truth, have told them and how they’ve been programmed to think.
They teach that only 144,000 people in the WHOLE world, out of the 7.2 Billion people that exist in the earth today, are going to heaven and that these ones are only of the Jehovah’s Witlessness, the annointed ones, the faithful and discreet slave class, the smaller flock with the seal of the lamb on their foreheads.
I guess I really feel stupid now for believing in their bull for so many years though many things did not make sense.
They are taught and believe that Jesus threw all of the demons including Satan out of heaven down here to the earth in 1914 and that marked the "last days of this wicked system of things", and that also marked the timeframe when the 144,000 remnant began to number, and that almost all of them are dead now, and when the last one dies or is near death that Armageddon will be here.
That’s insane beings how they marked Armageddon in 1874, 1914, 1916, 1925, 1975, and there was another year date, possibly more that I missed. If "Only the Father knows of that appointed date and time", why would Russell, then Rutherford, then other white men running this "BUSINESS WITH LAWYERS AND BUSINESSMEN SERVING AS THE GOVERNING BODY" impose exact years when Armageddon would be here? Then they have to change that when it doesn’t happen. They always change up when something does not add up; to keep the people interested and duped… many are leaving; many do stay.
That’s what a cult does… mind control and outrageousness… nothing really wholly truthful from God, but a bunch of hocus pocus. So much brainwashing going on and very truly good-hearted people join because they want to belong to "the one and only true religion" but this is not it. I feel sorry for some of the people who are duped, well I was for many years. I’m still recovering. It gets better every few months, but I feel so duped and betrayed.
It’s, the Watchtower Society, is plain and simply, a business — and did you know until 2005 or 2006 they were once part of (belonged) to the United Nations? This is a government as we know made up of all the worldly governments that they so preach against every Sunday or Tuesday pretty much during their Watchtower and Service Meetings, and their Kingdom Ministry Schools. They preach against government but yet they belonged to it?? This can be verified by doing a search on the New York State Business (Secretary of State) Records. You can go into the state office or do your own search online.
It’s all there and one thing I didn’t do before I got baptized as a Witless is happily tells lies. I still work very hard to be an honest person. Everything I have written here is the truth and can be verified, and I have experienced much more hypocrisy and dishonesty within this cult. So sad.. so sad.

Is it immoral to study psychology?
I’m about to become a college sophomore, and I have already declared myself a psychology major because I am very much intrigued by why we think and act the way we do. Ultimately, I would like to become a marriage/family therapist based on my studies, though I am open for any relevant field. However, as a Christian, I have looked up "Christian" & "psychology" together on the internet recently to near-unanimous negativity. One site, in particular, has been giving me fits because the content (albeit opinionated w/ Scriptural evidence to support his POV) does all but condemn me to the pits of Hell for wanting to study psychology. I’ve included 2 links from said site below for your (dis)pleasure. Yes, I’m aware that this field was founded by less-than-perfect individuals, but what occupation hasn’t? And since God gave us (sane people) minds, shouldn’t it be necessary to explore this realm and uncover why individuals put themselves in their own predicaments? I want to use my talents to help explain the depravity of mankind, not make excuses. Serious answers only, please. Thank you. God bless.

I believe the main reason why the author of the above site is so anti-therapy is because his daughter was "forced" by his state’s child services department to ingest a drug he & his wife refused when she fell ill one time. He claims his daughter felt worse than before, and he unsuccessfully sued his state for going beyond their means, or something to that extent. Please don’t make me search the archives for that story. I may have stumbled upon an extremist site that I dare not venture in any time soon. … And of course psychology is not mentioned in the Bible. It wasn’t discovered until the 19th century. No offense. Thanks again for your understanding.
Don’t worry about it.
If psychology is your interest, then proceed, full speed ahead.
Maybe after you get your degree and a few years of experience, you can analyze some of your fellow Christians and find out why they have such an irrational dislike for your profession.
