Can someone help me please? What is the difference between covenant theology and dispensational theology?

What IS covenant theology to begin with? And why is it different from dispensational?

Covenant theology is based on the theory that God has only one covenant with men (the covenant of grace) and only one people, represented by the Old and New Testament saints—one people, one church and one plan for all.

These beliefs require the adherents of covenant theology to interpret prophecy in a nonliteral way.

Dispensationalism, on the other hand, is a system of theology with two primary distinctives: (1) a consistently literal interpretation of Scripture, especially Bible prophecy, and (2) a distinction between Israel and the Church in God’s program.

How should I make my comic for a theology project?

For theology class, I have to create a comic that shows my thoughts about God in politics, society, family, friends, or school. I’m still not sure how to make mine. Please help me with this. I’m so stuck right now.

It should be done on the computer. I’m using a program called Comic Life to make this.

Thanks in advance!

Read a few Chick tracts, which are available on-line, and take your inspiration from them.

A good example of God in politics would be the entire Bush administration, and there are tons of books about the topic out there.

God in society might be embodied in the abortion rights movement, the gay marriage movement, or any number of others.

I’ll leave you to work out family and friends. As to God in school, the issues relating to teaching creationism in school would be a fitting topic. The Dover School Board case would be a good example.

What is a good Hebrew prayer for a former teacher of mine that recently passed away?

A former Hebrew high school instructor of mine recently passed away. He was an important figure in my life and a good friend of my family. He was kind of like a father to me and encouraged me to apply to great schools that i likely got into due to his recommendations. Any thoughts of a prayer i can say in silent or at his grave when i go to visit it in a few weeks?

Please only post serious answers and do not be disrespectful.

Praying for the dead is a false teaching, you need to pray to God.

How does God answer prayer without affecting free will?

Since God doesn’t interfere with free will, how then does He answer prayer? I’m just trying to understand how the power of prayer works. It just seems the only way to change any event is to directly interfere but this is against God’s word, so how then would He answer a prayer? Just curious on other’s thoughts..

Free choice can only be made on the condition that the Creator does not show himself to us and thus we are created in a condition of His absence from our perception. If we had a perception of Him we would be unable to stop our self from cleaving to the pleasure that emanates from Him thus the condition of complete separation without the influence of His force gives us the chance to independently arrive at the desire to approach Him and cleave to Him.

Prayers that ask for a change in events that are happening in the world or to fix problems are not the ones that get a response because these are things He created specifically to prepare us for turning to Him and request to approach Him. The Creator will answer your prayer if it relates to spiritual advancement towards understanding and knowing Him. This kind of prayer asks for changes within you that will lead to spiritual ascent. This ascent leads to happiness and closeness to the Creator and in this regard the Creator can and will do anything for you. This is the reason prayer is called "the work of the heart" because we work to direct all our desire to be for the Creator. I hope this helps.

Here is a video on prayer to explain further:

And here is vieo with a very good explanation on the complex topic of free will:

Is there any topic regarding mental health issues that can be related to theology?

I’m doing a report for Theology and I needed some topic ideas. I was interested in doing something relating to psychological issues. Faith and people with issues like depression… what would be some topics where I could have a lot to say?

I’ve recently read an article in Newsweek Magazine about people who have faith actually healing better than people who don’t. The research was run by doctors and hospital who have nothing to gain by weighting the outcome of the study one way or the other.
I found it interesting that people who were more personally spiritual, healed faster and more completely.
Here’s a good resource for you. Just about all hospitals have chaplains departments. They make information readily available to clergy who want to visit. Some hospitals have clergy on call or clergy who work directly for the hospital….especially the hospitals that are faith sponsored rather than a public or private hospital. You should get the phone numbers of hospitals in your area and call those hospital department…they all have secretaries. You could get an interview for your report with one of the chaplains.
Good luck to you.

Why did Obama sit in a racist black theology church for 20 years and never tell his mentor to be calm down?

Rev. Wright’s church is a racist black liberation theology church. They hate whites, hate Americans, and hate conservatives. Why did Obama just sit there for 20 years and not tell his mentor to relax on his hatred?

He was there because he believes it -

What is a good prayer for after killing an inocent animal?

a snapping turtle bit my curious puppy on the lip. She started bleeding like crazy and i did not know where she had been bit or how severe. While my brother tended to her i smashed the turtles shell in with a big rock. I have never seen anything suffer more in my life. It is now the next day and i still feel like shit. Could someone either give me a prayer or something that will make me feel better or at least take my mind off of it.

Rub a dub, dub…….. thanks God for the grub

How do you bring prayer more strongly into your life?

I’m a Catholic and i’m wondering ways that you can bring prayer more strongly into life. Like what are some ways?

Prayer is an out going talk with the Heavenly Father through the Name of Jesus.

For all Christian ‘sects’: Re: John 3:16 what does the word ‘life’ mean…see details?

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten
son that whosoever believes in him shall have everlasting
LIFE.

Please let us know what that word ‘LIFE’ means to you
and how does it affect your daily walk with God through Christ?

I know as I study Scripture more and more, no matter what
I think or feel that may be ‘contrary’ to the Scripture under
study, something wonderful and exciting happens within me.
HolySpirit moves swiftly and powerfully when I read with open
heart and mind.

So, on this Scriptural study, what does the word, LIFE, mean
to you?

and for extra credit: what is meant by the word WORLD
in this verse?

time for the lexicons and concordances. Suggestion:
don’t just use one. See where the agreements are,
see where they diverge, then take it all ‘upstairs’
in prayer and see what comes ‘down’ from on High.

thanks :)
so many good answers here

thanks to all

hope you had fun IN the Word with this Q :)

Life to me refers to that force within that came from god. The Original spark that got my fire kindling. My body has many parts inside and out. Physically I am, mentally I am and so to am I spiritually. The spirit provides the force for the other two and when I have completed all that is required of me then so, I shall return to the seventh heaven and be seated with the king of kings. When we are born there are certain things we do with out being shown or having to learn, these instinctive things are from the life force within.

Why is it not possible to formulate a systematic theology that agrees with the Bible in all points?

Roman Catholic theology introduces unbiblical and irrational ideas; Calvinistic reformed theology stumbles at the existence of evil; covenantal theology muddles the biblical distinctions between Israel and the church; dispensational theology is too hopelessly complex to be credible because every major inconsistency is explained away by spuriously introducing a new "dispensation;" and Arminianism destroys the sovereignty of God.

It must be territorial instincts and greed at play. Each Christian cult insists that their particular interpretation of scripture is the "truth," while all others are either misinterpretations, perversions, or outright lies. The more members and subscribers to one particular cult, the more profitable the organization. See where the Roman Catholic Church is in terms of its massive (and obscene) wealth, compared to other Christian cults? They’ve had a long head start.

Thus the world of organized Christendom has spawned over 1,000 cults…and counting. In the final analysis, it’s really all about the money.
