why is every question in the religion and spirituality subject swamped with athiests?
the Definition of an atheist is not believing god or a higher power.
so no Religion… no Spirituality…
so how come when questions are posted about god atheists everywhere seemed forced to tell them they are wrong.
isn’t that what you get mad at theists for… explicitly detailing their beliefs and telling everyone… when supposedly no one wants to hear?
without stereotyping… from what ive seen, why is it atheists are so arrogant and hypocritical?
Because they are misunderstood as much as they misunderstood people who believe in God. We should treat them the way we treat God’s believers. For they also want us to respect their belief, as much as we respect ours.
The work being done on light in Theology, philosophy, physics, medicine, and near death experiences is directing us to a revolutionary breakthrough in terms of a new model, a new approach to reality. Progress in all of these areas of human curiosity is being driven by brilliant and original insights into the very nature of the foundational stuff of the universe—light—an elusive, pervasive, something or someone.
There is a popular saying in the 21st Century that is sometimes used to describe the attitude of many “modern” persons regarding the Divine Being: “God is missing but not missed.” He is an add-on, a self-chosen extra but not essential to our daily lives or thought.
But what if light is indeed the foundational stuff of the universe, as many modern
physicists believe that it is?
What if the entire physical, empirical world of matter, the “without” of things is a basic energy that is light (luminous), which is in constant flux when viewed over a long period of time (duration)? The velocity of atomic movements, their speed, drastically modifies a body’s mass. It is only when movements are sufficiently slowed down that they appear to be solid or immobile. All “speed” is referenced to the speed of light, so every body is not only changed by its speed, but it also radiates, that is, it moves like rays…from a center, it emits rays, as of light or heat. (Teilhard de Chardin, The Phenomenon of Man, pp. 54-55, and The Human Phenomenon, p. 23).
What if undergirding this physical, empirical world of matter both as its source, sustainer, purpose and/or reason for being, is psychic energy, a force that causes things to happen but has no empirically verifiable mass or behavior, so it is not physical but spiritual? The Light that glows can be experienced both within our minds, souls, and hearts. It can be seen in phenomena like near-death experiences.
This ultimate form of energy is “The Light” that has the characteristic of “Supreme Person” and “the personal.”
God is in all things by the very fact that the basic or ultimate stuff of the universe is psychic energy (light) and God is, as previously noted, the source of this energy, and is Himself, psychic energy, “The Light”, centered in one Divine Being who is three Divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
But although God is in all things as their source, sustainer, and purpose, all things are not God. For God is transcendent, above all creation. Creation is part of God, but God is not part of creation. God is actuality (there is no potential, no change—no evolution in God), autonomous (dependent on no one or no other thing), and irreversible (again indicates no element of change or disintegration). These are the commonly ascribed attributes of God posited by all the monotheistic (one God) faith traditions (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam).
If all of this is true, then far from being an “add-on” or non-essential “extra”, God, The
Light, is immanent in all of his creation. We cannot even correctly perceive the physical reality (light) around us without the inner light that God imparts to every human being who is willing to receive it, let alone understand, make sense out of, or give meaning to, what we see.

The story has been told and retold countless times about the battle of Waterloo. Poems have been written and songs have been composed detailing every conceivable aspect about it. The English tell it one way and the French share it from a slightly different point of view.
History and legend has it that after Napoleon Bonaparte’s army was defeated and the Duke of Wellington prevailed over the French, Napoleon was taken away and imprisoned. One day a group of newspaper reporters came to visit. They had obtained permission to hold an interview with the famous French general, Napoleon Bonaparte.
Even though Napoleon was in prison, he carried himself with dignity and looked with piercing eyes at the group of reporters gathered there before him. Questions were asked and answers given. The reporters wrote every word down. This would, indeed, be good reading. They would boast to their children and grandchildren how they stood before the great general on that long ago day.
Suddenly, from the back of the room, a voice, somewhat more gentle than the others was heard above the din. “Mon general,” the reporter said, “Tell me why the English won at Waterloo. Did they have a superior army?”
“No!” replied Napoleon.
“Well, did they have better weapons?” asked another reporter.
“No!” was the answer again.
Then the first reporter asked again, “Why then, Mr. General, did the English win?”
Napoleon’s eyes slowly swept across the room. The silence was so deep that it was almost deafening. You could have heard the proverbial pin drop. Then he replied, “The English fought five minutes longer.”
From the mouth of the great general himself came the answer, “The English fought five minutes longer”. Many times, five minutes longer is all that it takes. Times have changed from the days of the Emperor Napoleon. But many things still remain the same.
Sometimes victory is just a few minutes away. Yes, I know, we all go through terrible times. In today’s world many of us are faced with crisis after crisis. For most, there is never enough money, no jobs, poor relationships, ill health and the list could go on and on. Of course, there are good times, too, but the hard times usually block our vision of the good times.
When things get really bad, we turn this way and that looking for some help or at least some hope to keep on keeping on. Anything will do–a kind word from a friend, a paragraph from a good book, a stray piece of music from the radio, even a Hollywood movie.
Some people will be there for you, others will turn and run from you, fearing for their own well-being. Still others may throw you a crumb of money, or food and hope you won’t ask for more. Be grateful. They do as they see fit to do at the moment. Your job is to just keep on keeping on.
When you are down in the arena and the dust is in your mouth and you can hear the screaming of the crowd, remember, “The English fought five minutes longer.” Sometimes it’s so bad that one day at a time is too long. So go one hour at a time. And if that’s too long, then how about five minutes at a time?
Success is sometimes just yards or minutes away. There are times when the last few yards may seem like miles and the last few minutes may appear to be hours. But if you keep on keeping on, if you do not let hope die, if you have faith in the goodness of the universe and the Force that created us, you will win in the end.
Why did Napoleon lose to the English at the battle of Waterloo? The English simply fought five minutes longer.

there is a HUGE difference in my opinion. mine is too long so im just going to ask you. lol what do you personally think is the difference between Spirituality and religion.
(YES); there can be a BIG difference between spirituality and Religion !
Can someone explain the difference between an Atheism and Atheist Spirituality?
I have had little contact with Atheist and wondered why soo many Atheist participated in Religion and Spirituality. Well, except for the most part to put down those who believe different. Smile. Please explain. For if that is the case, then are you no different than some of those who believe in a Creator? Or are Religious? I do not say all for I know that many ask sincere questions and would like to avoid unnecessary offense through ignorance. Can read, but personal info is better.
Thank you
Have you ever heard of Atheist Buddhists? I surely think they are spiritual. However I am not. Personally I go on here and answer questions about how to do certain things. True Atheism isn’t a religion but it can be attached to any religion that doesn’t believe in a deity e.g Buddhism, taoism, and universalism
What are the good news of the kingdom of God?
What is the kingdom of God?
What Religion is preaching the good news of the kingdom of God?
Matthew 24:14: And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
Great question, Boanerge.
This is because Jesus identified the period immediately before ‘the end of the system of things,’ as being the time when the "good news of the Kingdom" would be preached.
Everything else he identified in that prophecy has been fulfilled in a massive way. But, most outstandingly, indeed miraculously, that work is being accomplished by a very unique group of people. Worldwide!

Life isn’t the sweetest candy. Sometimes, when I feel like the world is just too heavy, I look around and find people who continued to live fascinating and wonderful lives. And then thoughts come popping into my mind like bubbles from nowhere – “How did their life become so adorably sweet? How come they still can manage to laugh and play around despite a busy stressful life?” Then I pause and observed for awhile… I figured out that maybe, they start to work on a place called ‘self’.
So, how does one become genuinely happy? Step 1 is to love yourself.
My Theology professor once said that “loving means accepting.” To love oneself means to accept that you are not a perfect being, but behind the imperfections must lie a great ounce of courage to be able to discover ways on how to improve your repertoire to recover from our mistakes.
Genuine happiness also pertains to contentment. When you are contented with the job you have, the way you look, with your family, your friends, the place you live in, your car, and all the things you now have – truly, you know the answer to the question “how to be genuinely happy.”
When we discover a small start somewhere from within, that small start will eventually lead to something else, and to something else. But if you keep questioning life lit it has never done you any good, you will never be able to find genuine happiness.
I believe that life is about finding out about right and wrong, trying and failing, wining and losing. These are things that happen as often as you inhale and exhale. Failure, in a person’s life has become as abundant and necessary as air. But this should not hinder us from becoming happy.
How to be genuinely happy in spite all these? I tell you… every time you exert effort to improve the quality of life and your being, whether it is cleaning up your room, helping a friend, taking care of your sick dog, fail on board exams and trying again, life gives you equivalent points for that.
Imagine life as a big score board like those which are used in the NFLs. Every time you take a step forward, you make scoring points. Wouldn’t it be nice to look at that board at the end of each game and think to yourself “Whew! I got a point today. I’m glad I gave it a shot.”, instead of looking at it all blank and murmur “Geez, I didn’t even hit a score today. I wish I had the guts to try out. We could have won!” and then walk away.
Genuine happiness isn’t about driving the hottest Formula 1 car, nor getting the employee of the year award, earning the highest 13th month pay, or beating the sales quota. Sometimes, the most sought after prizes in life doesn’t always go to the fastest, the strongest, the bravest or not even the best. So, how do you become genuinely happy? Every one has his own definition of ‘happiness’. Happiness for a writer may mean launching as much best selling books as possible. Happiness for a basketball rookie may mean getting the rookie of the year award. Happiness for a beggar may mean a lot of money. Happiness for a business man may mean success. So, really now, how do we become genuinely happy? Simple. You don’t have to have the best things in this world. Its about doing and making the best out of every single thing. When you find yourself smiling at your own mistake and telling your self “Oh, I’ll do better next time”, you carry with you a flame of strong will power to persevere that may spread out like a brush fire. You possess a willingness to stand up again and try – that will make you a genuinely happy person.
When you learn to accept yourself and your own faults. You pass step 1 in the project “how to become genuinely happy”.For as long as you know how to accept others, you will also be accepted. For as long as you love and know how to love, you will receive love ten folds back.
Again, throw me that same question “how to become genuinely happy?”. I’ll refer you to a friend of mine who strongly quoted- “Most of us know that laughter is the best medicine to life’s aches and pain. But most of us don’t know that the best kind of laughter is laughter over self. Coz then you don’t just become happy… you become free.”

When my son, Jonathan, was much younger, I would try to help him with some of his tasks, whether it was his homework, chores or even just plain, simple advice. Many a time he would look at me in exasperation and say, “I know that, dad.” Even when he did solicit my help directly, he would listen, but not “hear” what I had to say.
Now, mind you, I do not claim to be a paragon of excellent advice or wisdom, but many of the things I told him would have saved him tremendous amounts of time, frustration and heartaches. As Jonathan grew older, he learned to listen a bit more, so instead of discounting most of what he heard, he would evaluate, weigh the merits or lack of, and then make choices based on what was consistent with his idea of right and wrong or good and bad.
The Universe speaks to us all the time. It doesn’t always do it in ways that we expect. Sometimes a
message comes from a friend and at other times, it may be someone we do not really care for who brings a very clear message to us. There are times when the messages are sent through dreams, or books, or radio, TV, the Internet and even the more prosaic form of the telephone.
If we close our minds and think that “we know that already,” we may miss the one little point that could have saved us a lot of trouble. Keeping an open mind gives us an opportunity to evaluate the communications we receive and then make decisions based on our own true feelings.
The story is told about some scientists who went into an apple orchard to study apples. They were busy with their notepads and pencils, measuring the dimensions of the apples they found. They observed and noted the size, weight and colors of the fruit while off to their left sat one of their fellow scientists under a large apple tree. He was quietly eating an apple.
All the other scientists knew about apples. The one who was eating the apple knew “apples.” Knowing about something does not necessarily mean knowing the thing. Knowing about God does not mean knowing God. Knowing about the secrets and laws of the Universe will not do us much good if there is not the deep knowing in our hearts and souls.
There have been hundreds of thousands of people who’ve read one or more of my books. Among the many wonderful email I receive would be one or two short, to the point comments saying something to the effect of, “I know all that already. I’ve been practicing all that stuff for years and so you haven’t told me anything new.”
My feeling is that there is really nothing new. As the Book of Ecclesiastes says, “There is nothing new under the sun.” What I think is new is the interpretation we bring to things, the different way we look at the information we receive. We can choose to see if, perhaps, there are any gems in what we hear and see or any wisdom in what we read or listen to.
By opening up our minds to new possibilities, we may find that we are being led by that glorious, higher self within us to explore possibilities that have the potential to bring us peace, joy, wealth, success — all good things.
If someone tells you that you shouldn’t do something because it doesn’t work, what that person is really saying is that it doesn’t work for him. Listen to your heart, gather all the information and let the Universe show you how to make it work.
Jonathan listens a lot more these days. He reflects and thinks about what he hears, sees or reads. He is willing to listen to points of view that are totally different from his own without getting defensive as he used to. As a result, he has become more tolerant, more compassionate and, in many ways, more successful. He has grown into a fantastic young man who, I am sure, will bring much credit to all that he chooses to do.
Let us not be like the person in the little ditty who says:
“In matters controversial, my perception’s really fine. I always see both points of view — the one that’s wrong and mine.”
Let us, instead, listen to all that comes to our notice and after reflecting on it, exhibit the qualities of tolerance, peace, understanding and compassion. And as Commander Spock would say, “Live long and prosper.”

It was early in the evening when the phone call came. Reaching over, I grabbed the phone and was greeted by my cousin who lives in New York City. There was a deep sadness in her voice as she told me that she personally wanted to call me and invite me to the 5-year memorial service she’d be having for her two children.
Although I have spoken with this cousin a number of times since that tragic day, September 11th, five years ago, it had been about 30 years since I last saw her. My work and other time constraints made it highly unlikely that I would be able to attend the event. And, so, I told her that I wasn’t sure that I could come, but I’d try.
After the phone call, I dismissed the matter with the thought that I’d send a card with beautiful words of comfort and hope. As days went on, my thoughts were absorbed with other things such as my writing, my websites, my business associates, my books, my friends, my children … .
My children? Yes, many of us who have children always think about them and trust that they do well. Mine were doing fine, but I still worried a bit. Someone once told me in jest that the first 40 years of raising children are the hardest.
Here I was, thinking of my children who were happy and successful whereas my cousin would never see her only two children on this Earth again. Her daughter and son were both in their twenties and were at work at the World Trade Center when the planes struck. What a dreadful affair that must have been for their mother.
And so, I decided to attend the memorial service. It was one of the best things I ever could have done. Just being there with friends and family members I hadn’t seen in years served as a reminder to me of what was important in life.
Though nothing could bring back my cousin’s children, my presence and that of others brought a small degree of comfort and hope and made it possible for her to “keep on keeping on.” I would have been selfish indeed, had I let my work and other commitments prevented me from making that trip.
We may not usually think that we have an effect on the lives of others, but we would be amazed at how wrong we could be. We do not need to make great contributions to the world — just small, consistent ones to those whose lives we touch. We could help so many people by just taking the time to listen to them, comfort them or just bring them hope.
I am glad that I visited my cousin. I gained so much by being there. I will never be able to understand exactly how she feels. Nobody could really understand exactly how someone else feels, but we could get a general idea. If we are understanding and compassionate, we will not only feel better about ourselves, but we may have a tremendous, beneficial effect on those whose lives we touch.
