Obama Speech on Religion
I usually don’t upload other videos and post them (thanks YOISM.org), but this video was too good to pass up. It reinforces why I love this candidate. Finally someone eloquent who really gets it!!! He admits some of the inanities in the bible and the illogic. He admits that faith is illogical and imperfect. He lays out why religion should stay out of government. He’s for civil unions and not marriage, but… eh… criticizing that is like not driving the Lamborghini because it only gets 9 miles per gallon.
It’s my assertion that Obama is either a closet atheist only in religion for political reasons (Yeah hypocritical, the Lamborghini doesn’t have any cup holders either) or he’s one of the last and most sane Christian I could ever hope to meet.
Enjoy.

Has anyone read, "Rapture: The End Times Error That Leaves the Bible Behind by David Currie"?
Author David Currie grew up convinced that one day all true Christians will suddenly be snatched up to heaven. The unfortunate souls left behind by this ?rapture? will endure seven horrible years of tribulation, at the end of which Christ will return to earth for a glorious thousand-year reign. Today, millions of Christians accept this end-times theology, assuming ? as Currie did ? that the Bible clearly teaches it. Many plan their whole lives around it. But, after studying Scripture for decades, Currie has come to see that if you accept the Bible, you have to reject the rapture. In these remarkable pages ? which constitute the world’s most careful and thorough scriptural study of the rapture ? Currie demonstrates why. He considers all the relevant verses (and there are hundreds!) and examines them in the light of ancient history, the writings of the earliest Christians, and the claims of rapturist theologians. With painstaking thoroughness, he unlocks the meanings of the key biblical prophecies that culminate in Christ’s Messianic Kingdom ? including those verses in Daniel, Matthew, and Revelation that rapturists turn to most. Marshalling evidence that?s as startling as it is compelling, Currie argues that these prophecies of war and tribulation don’t point to some still-unrealized apocalyptic future. Rather, most of them were fulfilled long ago: the spiritual, priestly Kingdom prefigured in the Old Testament was inaugurated on Calvary, consummated in 70 A.D. with the destruction of the Temple, and continues to exist today . . . in the Catholic Church! That may surprise you. Yet, shows Currie, it’s the only conclusion that fits all the scriptural and historical evidence. Rapture: The End-Times Error That Leaves the Bible Behind makes Scripture, prophecy, and history come alive; and it demonstrates that if you open your Bible, you’ll find that God’s plan for the future of the world is not filled with darkness and disaster, but with light, mercy, and hope. ?We can all learn much from David Currie, not only from what he says, which is wise, but from how he says it, which is Catholic and Christian.? From the Foreword by Scott Hahn Special features: Over 1,300 references to Scripture, the early Church Fathers, authors and events in ancient history, and contemporary rapturist theologians Ten detailed timelines relating biblical prophecy to key historical events The biblical case for the rapture (showing why so many accept it) A survey of the thoughts of the early Church Fathers about the end-times A history of the development of rapturist theories, showing how this heresy has been refuted time and again by the Church A short course in the proper methods of reading Scripture A survey of end-times hypotheses from the first century through 9/11/2001 Nine ground rules you must follow if you are to make sense of biblical prophecy and relate it to salvation history A 10-page annotated bibliography of rapturist sources ancient and new Plus, much more to help you understand and evaluate the claims of rapturists

Exactly! If you accept the Bible, you have to reject the rapture.
Well, I’m glad he finally got it worked out…after all that.
Too bad he didn’t just go and read Matthew 24:15,21,and 29-31 which makes it very clear that the "rapture" (gathering together of the believers that remain) is "immeadiately AFTER the tribulation of those days"! Heck I couldda told him that about thirty five years ago! But nobody’s paying me to write some fancy book about how mixed up I used to be but how "straightened out" about about it I am now.
By the way, the "Great Tribulation" (Matthew 24:21) is NOT 7 years, but 3 1/2 years (the last three and a half year "half "of the last seven years.) He "confirms the covenant with many for one week" –"shabuwa" or seven-year-period, but the tribulation begins in the "midst of the week" when the "Abomination of desolation is placed" (Jesus even pointed to this specifically ) (Daniel 9:27; 11:31) (Matthew 24:15) and many other scriptures referring to "thousand, two hundred and threescore days" (Revelations 11:3; 12:6), "fourty and two months" (Revelations 11:2; 13:5) in Daniel ("time, times, and a half") (Daniel 12:7) "Thousand two hundred and ninety days" (Daniel 12:11) and in (It all works out to 3 1/2 years, repeated over and over about the same period. Do you think God might be trying to impress us that it is important?! Jesus even tells us specifically when referring to these scriptures in Daniel "Whoso readeth, let him understand!" (Matthew 24:15) And Daniel tells us how long this horrible trouble will be.
There are certainly many parallels about the ceasars of Rome and so on but Jesus was asked about His return and about "the end of the world" Matthew 24. So He’s talking about the Tribulation that’s THEN.. when He returns!, not the uprising in 70 AD. Daniel 12:1-4 and Matthew 24:21 make it clear that it will not be comparable to any other "tribulation", not the ceasars, nor Phol Pot, nor Hitler, nor Stalin, nor Mao.. "NO, not this time nor ever shall be.." (Only ONE "Great Tribulation" and it’s still to come! and that it will be at the "time of the end")
I have NEVER yet heard any "rapture–ists" use Daniel as a reference, there is just too much in his prophecies showing that the saints and the "people who know their God" being HERE then, not far off! (Daniel 11:32).
Besides, if the rapture were before the tribulation, how come the two sackcloth witnesses (Revelations 11:12) of Revelations are still here on the earth, causing havoc for the beast, right up until Jesus calls them up, and then returns with them and us only a short time later.
Happy to hear he’s come around. He’s not the ONLY one who’s come around over the last 30-40 years –there are hundreds of thousands! Still these dumb books and theories "convert" their millions. But the only people who are gonna feel "left behind" are gonna be the poor "rapturists". They are gona be totally UN prepared and easy pickens for the Anti-christ "Whahappn’!!? " The rest of the believers "who know their God" (and their Bibles) are gonna be "being strong and doin’ exploits" and winning souls and giving the beast.. well. you know what!
This theory pre-trib rapture was promoted by the Schofield Bible, and Hal Lindsey’s novels in the 70′s and lots of other missled people, and has missled PLENTY!
Nothing beats just READING the Bible. If people will read it, God will give them understanding.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the holy is understanding!" (Proverbs 9:10)

What Does The Snot Commercial Have To Do With Religion and Spirituality?
Why is Yahoo subjecting us to snot commercials in the Religion and Spirituality section?
You know, the one that has the snot personified as little green gobs running around dressed in clothing, so that we should buy Mucinex medicine?
How should we best incorporate this into our religious-ness and spirituality?
Snot really important.

How can i cut religion out of my spirituality?
I like spirituality but hate religion, so i would like to cast away religious thoughts like gods , angels, jesus and sin and live free from delusion, but still spiritual. What type of path can i walk where i am spiritual but believe in only that which has evidence?
Religion is how you practice your faith and how you believe. Also what others may call "organized religion" "Religious thoughts like gods , angels, Jesus and sin" I believe to be what is….meaning that this is your faith aside from all religions, you believe in this. Spirituality and Faith I believe go hand in hand. That might be why you are having a hard time separating it. Look around you and you will find your evidence, and then just accept what is…is:)

What is a good religion to compare and contrast Catholicism with?
I am writing a Report on Catholicism. Part of the report is to compare and contrast my religion of choice with another religion.
What I want to know is what religion is going to effectively compare and contrast with Catholicism? Any ideas are welcome!
(Thanks!)
Protestants. The Protestants were originally Roman Catholice, but in the 1500′s, Martin Luther, a Catholic monk, led a sort of revolt against the Catholic Church, and nailed 95 theses in the door of the Catholic Church in Wittenburg, Germany. These were to protest the wickednesses in the Catholic Church. Those who followed him came to be called Lutherans. Martin Luther’s break from the Catholic Church was not his idea, it was the church who excommunicated him. His ‘reformation’ changed the entire world, as his teachings spread like wildfire. Prior to the Reformation, the world was in the ‘dark ages’. People could not read or write. Martin translated the Bible into German, and he opened schools to teach people to read and write. The world came out of the dark ages. This would be a very interesting topic for you. If you Google ‘Reformation’ you will find much interesting, additional information. Best wishes.

What religion exploits the emotion of fear to keep followers in line?
Almost every religion in the world uses some form of fear factor to make people act "morally". Example the fear of hell, the fear of karma, and many more.
From your perspective what religion exploits the emotion of fear the most to keep followers in line?
The Abrahamic ones.
